Meet Karin

Karin Hess, founder of Mount Angel Tours GmbH, combines her comprehensive understanding of Chinese culture and intercultural competence with her deep central Swiss roots to offer bespoke tourism and consulting services. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and with an extensive academic background in Chinese Studies, Political Science, and Business Administration from the University of Zurich, University of Wuhan, Sciences Po in Paris and the London School of Economics, Karin is a skilled communicator and strategist. 

Karin’s professional experience spans from teaching skiing in her hometown of Engelberg—the inspiration for her company’s name—to serving as an Olympic Liaison Officer at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing during the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In this role, she enhanced international collaboration and cultural exchange through her coordination efforts. 

At Mount Angel Tours GmbH, headquartered in the scenic Swiss town of Alpnach, Karin emphasises sustainable and personalised tourism experiences that cater to individual preferences and ethical standards.
